Greco EG-500 Super Power Tobacco Sunburst (Les Paul Custom Lawsuit)
Greco EG-500 Super Power Tobacco Sunburst (Les Paul Custom Lawsuit)
The Greco company started building guitars in Japan in 1960, hitting their high water mark for quality between roughly 1971 to 1982. Japanese concert tours in the 1960s by bands like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin created a ravenous demand for affordable Fender and Gibson-styled guitars amongst the young Japanese fans. Greco stepped up to fill that demand, and made more high quality "lawsuit" copies of the major guitar brands' designs than all other Japanese guitar companies combined. And while no legal action was taken against Greco for these guitars, Gibson did commission the same factory to make their "Orville" line of instruments which were exclusively sold within Japan!
A Greco EG-500 LP Custom in a finish resembling Gibson’s Tobacco Sunburst in perfect working order. A real Lawsuit Era Greco. It's very comfortable to play with Straight Neck and Low-action. Almost after 40 years the original frets have plenty of fret life left in them.
This guitar features a Solid Maple top, Mahogany back body, Mahogany neck, Rosewood fretboard with Fret edge binding, and original Greco UD Humbuckers. All electronics are the original. The truss rod works fine in either direction.
Condition: Dings and chips around the body and neck but very good shape overall, some build-up and chrome flaking on the hardware
Playability: Straight neck, some fret wear, action is comfortable, no issues with electronics.
