Edwards by ESP E-EX-STD Eric Clapton Elbow Cut Explorer Natural with Gold Hardware 2024

The E-EX-STD is Edwards’ modern take on the classic mid-’70s Explorer platform, combining the iconic angular silhouette with the clean build quality and consistency that Edwards instruments are known for. This 2024 example adds a subtle but distinctive twist with the Eric Clapton–style elbow cut, a contour carved into the body for improved comfort where the picking arm rests.

Constructed from solid mahogany with a set mahogany neck, the guitar delivers the strong midrange presence and long sustain that Explorer-style instruments are known for. Despite the large body shape, the slim neck profile keeps the feel fast and comfortable, making it equally suited to rhythm work and lead playing.

The Natural finish highlights the wood grain and gives the guitar a more understated look than traditional solid colours, while gold hardware adds a refined visual contrast.

Electronics feature a pair of Edwards Legacy humbuckers, voiced in a vintage-leaning style with balanced output and clear articulation. They retain definition under gain while remaining responsive and open on cleaner settings, complementing the naturally resonant mahogany construction.
