The Edwards E-SE-JK is a Japanese-built tribute to the heavily modified Strat famously associated with Jake E. Lee during his time with Ozzy Osbourne and later Badlands. Rather than a conventional vintage-style Strat, the E-SE-JK recreates the stripped-back, hot-rodded formula that made Jake's original white guitar so distinctive.
Built in Japan by ESP's Edwards division, the guitar pairs an ash body with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The Pearl White finish, black hardware and distinctive pickup arrangement capture the character of Jake's original instrument, while the simple control layout keeps the guitar focused on performance rather than unnecessary complexity.
The factory E-SE-JK uses a pair of Seymour Duncan SSL-3 Hot Strat single coils in the neck and middle positions, angled in the distinctive Jake E. Lee configuration. On this example, the original Seymour Duncan JB bridge humbucker has been replaced with a Vanzandt TruBucker, a premium Japanese-made humbucker with a more vintage-oriented response. It retains plenty of authority for hard rock while offering an open, articulate character and excellent dynamic response.
This guitar has also received two significant KTS titanium upgrades: a titanium neck plate and titanium bridge saddles. KTS is renowned for its precision titanium guitar hardware, with these components designed to improve vibration transfer, clarity and sustain while retaining the familiar feel of the original instrument.
The result is an interesting evolution of an already distinctive signature model: unmistakably Jake E. Lee in appearance and layout, but with carefully selected Japanese upgrades that give this particular example its own character.
