Designed in collaboration with Hama Okamoto, the Hama Okamoto Precision Bass® #4 is a brilliantly unconventional take on the classic P-Bass. Built by Fender Japan, this model was created around a deceptively simple idea: make a Precision Bass that plays effortlessly.

The result? A bass that keeps the iconic Precision Bass tone and aesthetic, but pairs it with a slim, Jazz Bass–style neck for faster, smoother playability. It’s a mash-up that shouldn’t work—but absolutely does. Unsurprisingly, it’s earned fans well beyond OKAMOTO’S devotees, appealing to players who love P-Bass punch but prefer a Jazz-style feel.

Why This Bass Is Special

While most Precision Basses stick to a wider neck profile, Hama Okamoto pushed for a Classic ’60s Jazz Bass neck shape—slimmer at the nut and instantly familiar to Jazz Bass players. Combined with a 7.25” vintage radius and traditional split-coil pickup, this bass delivers authentic Fender tone with unusually easy playability.

Add vintage appointments like lollipop tuners and a bridge cover, and you get a bass that looks straight out of the ‘60s but feels ready for long modern sessions on stage or in the studio.
