The Michiya Haruhata Stratocaster Transparent Pink is one of the more distinctive instruments from Fender's Made in Japan Artist Series, developed as an accessible Japanese-production recreation of the Custom Shop Michiya Haruhata III Stratocaster built by Master Builder Jason Smith. Created for longtime TUBE guitarist and solo artist Michiya Haruhata, it combines classic Strat ergonomics with a decidedly modern, high-performance specification.

Its most immediate feature is the factory Transparent Pink finish. Despite the name, the translucent colour can appear closer to vivid red or coral under certain lighting, with the finish allowing the figuring of the flame maple top to remain clearly visible underneath. The top is paired with an ash body and deliberately left without a pickguard, giving the guitar a clean, contemporary appearance.

The maple neck was developed by 3D scanning Haruhata's original instrument and uses his distinctive Michiya Haruhata Soft V profile. It is paired with a maple fingerboard, 9.5" radius, 22 medium-jumbo frets and black dot markers. The satin neck finish and 25.5" scale retain the familiar Fender feel, while the reversed oversized headstock and locking nut make its performance-oriented intentions immediately apparent.

The HSH electronics are particularly impressive. A DiMarzio Air Norton DP193 sits at the neck, a Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat single coil occupies the middle position, and a DiMarzio FRED DP153 handles the bridge. All three pickups are direct-mounted to the body. Alongside the conventional five-way selector, the guitar provides Master Volume, independent Middle Pickup Volume and a Master Tone with a push-push switch allowing the neck pickup to be activated independently, opening up additional pickup combinations beyond a conventional HSH Strat.

A double-locking tremolo system provides the stability required for aggressive vibrato work, while Fender Vintage "F" stamped tuners retain a touch of traditional Fender styling. It's an unusual combination of vintage Fender DNA and distinctly Japanese high-performance design, resulting in a Strat that is considerably more specialised than its familiar outline initially suggests.
