Fender Japan Telegib Jeff Beck Tribute Custom Order Telecaster 1980s

Fender Japan Telegib Jeff Beck Tribute Custom Order Telecaster 1980s

Fender

$2,100.00 AUD

This rare Fender Japan Telegib is a custom-order Jeff Beck tribute model built during the highly coveted E-serial era of the 1984-1987—a period revered for exceptional build quality and craftsmanship. Unlike the later-run Telegib-style reissues of the late ’90s–2000s, this example comes from the golden early MIJ production years, making it considerably harder to find and more collectible. It features an ash body with a transparent butterscotch finish that lets the grain show through, paired with a period-correct single-ply black guard.

The maple neck follows a comfortable vintage-inspired profile with precise Japanese finishing. Hardware choices stay faithful to early Fender style: vintage tuners and a 3-saddle Tele bridge upgraded to KTS Titanium saddles, giving the guitar a classic feel while handling the increased output of the humbuckers with ease. As expected from this era, the neck pocket fit, finish work, and general build quality are excellent.

What makes the Telegib special, of course, is its dual humbucker configuration. This one comes loaded with DiMarzio PAF-style pickups, delivering thick, punchy, Les-Paul-like tones while still retaining a Tele’s clarity and attack. Combined with clean factory routing and tight workmanship, you get a guitar that feels refined yet powerful—equally suited for rock, blues, and Jeff Beck-style lead work. For players and collectors seeking a true MIJ oddity with ’80s pedigree, this E-serial Telegib is a standout piece.
