Here’s a Gibson Les Paul Junior Lite from 2001, looking remarkably like a Les Paul Special.
The Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as a sincle-cutaway guitar to provide a lower cost model in the Les Paul line, and it immediately took a place in the rock arsenal. In 1958, it received a major makeover with the double-cut (DC) body design, which provides unrestricted access to all the frets. However, the DC model was discontinued during 1960, in favour of the new body design that became known as the SG.
Over the years, the Double-Cut body shape has been reissued in various forms. From 1999 to 2002, Gibson produced the guitar shown here, is a Special with P-100 hum-cancelling soapbar style pickups and mini trapezoidal markers, and called it the Junior Lite.
Mahogany neck with unbound rosewood fingerboard, mini trapezoidal markers in mother of pearl. Black headstock with Les Paul Model decal and mother of pearl Gibson inlay. 24.75″ scale length. 22 Original frets with minor wear. Original gloss black nitrocellulose lacquer finish with some wear and marking. Looks great! Later versions of this instrument use a faded and/or satin finish; this is from the gloss period.
Hardware/electronics.
All original hardware with two P-90 (100) pickups, individual volume and tone controls, pickup selector, chrome tune-o-matic and stop tailpiece, chrome Kluson-type strip tuners with white plastic buttons.
Condition: Some finish clouding, minor dents around body and headstock, very minor paint chipping in headstock, no breaks or cracks, truss rod working
Playability: Straight neck, no buzzing, very minor fret wear for a guitar this age, action is comfortable, no issues with electronics
